Grace Moments

If our expression of Christianity causes outsiders to find the Bible distasteful, how will they want to seek Jesus?  To the unredeemed we might be the only bible they know.

Outsiders are much more demanding with their expectations of Christians.  They expect us to be perfect.  In part, because that’s what we’ve communicated.

The words we speak might be the only biblical words they hear.  If this be so, isn’t it of great importance how we conduct ourselves?

Rahab—Grace at work

A Christmas Message:  By faith through grace, a most unlikely person was accepted into God’s kingdom.  Even more astounding, this person was in the genealogical line of Jesus.  This person is a woman. A woman of ill repute. She is mentioned by name in Hebrews 11, the chapter of faith.

Salmah was Jewish, Rahab Gentile.  Boaz was Jewish, Ruth was Gentile.  Each of enemy territories.  Both women became Jews.  Heaven will have all tribes, nations and tongues.  all reckoned by faith in Jesus, a Jew.  Born in Bethlehem of Judah in modern day West Bank.

Grace Filled life

A grace-filled life is knowing Jesus, abiding in Him, and expressing Him.  Sounds easy enough, but how do we do that?  This message examines the vine and the branches teaching of Jesus to answer that question.  Jesus wants us to live in grace bear fruit.

The Grace Effect

Are you grace-filled?  If you’ve been hit with grace or experienced grace, it had an effect on you. 

The grace effect.  Causes others to glorify God.  It carries - faith, hope, love,  Its almost an infection, a contagious infection.   It spreads because others are viewed through a new lens.  Charity becomes more common in community hit with the grace effect. 

Grace unto salvation. Grace unto sanctification. Grace unto restoration.  Grace, grace, more grace.  How do we Know if the Grace Effect Has Happened?

Grace address Law Keepers and Law Breakers

Many Christians focus on keeping the OT laws of God. Their concept of victorious Christian living is to avoid wrong actions and do right ones.  Legalism activates the law of sin and death.

Other Christians live a carnal life with their mind set on the flesh.  Grace abusers. Prodigals.  A person who chooses to live with their sin activates the flesh.

The Christian life doesn’t revolve around doing or avoiding, but around being. Paul asks the church, “did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

We Christians struggle when confronted with these points of failure.  [abortion, addictions, carnal living, laziness, poverty, illegal acts, homosexuality] 

Let’s walk through the interaction of Jesus with the Woman at the Well and see if we can learn a process of confronting sin.

The Grace Effect

The Grace Effect is what happens in the object of grace when it is received.  Grace starts with God and it falls upon the person who has let God change.  And then they become a grace vessel or ambassador emulating this spiritual action.  And, another person within the grace-reach becomes the recipient of grace.  And from there, it begins to impact and affect larger society.

Is Grace Enough?

The church has gotten a little off track. It promises all kinds of powers to us that Jesus doesn't. Follow this message as we look at the life of someone who was used mightily but prayed 3 times for God to remove a thorn—and Jesus said no. Does this seem contrary to all of the promises of God?

God’s Grace is the solution to this; God’s empowering presence… Grace IS NOT permission to stay as you are. Grace says you are accepted.

Grace is the method of divine dealing in salvation and in the believer’s life and service. As saved, he is “not under law but under grace” (Rom 6:14).
