How Can I Know If I’m Hearing From God?

As Christians grow in their walk with God the question often arises, “How do I know if I’m hearing from God, and not myself?”  

Many people will say they’ve heard from God but not be able to explain how. Others will say they’ve heard from God but their statement contradicts the Word of God. So, how do we hear from God?
