Galatians 5:1,19-26 :  Weeds of the Flesh are not freedom either. Even worse, they are Fruit Chokers. They hinder God’s grace from working in and through you. They block us from doing what God is desiring us to do. Weeds of the Flesh are joy stealers. They are fear finders. They are slave-makers. But if we are Fruit Bearers… God’s grace can work freely through us. Fruit, not fruits—suggests that the Christian’s life in the Spirit is unified in purpose and direction as opposed to life in the flesh with its inner conflicts and frustrations.

Fruit born of the Spirit is made evident as well. People will know us by our fruit. In part by observation and in part by experience. The fruit aroma is caught by those we love on.

Do you want to be a Spirit Fruit? Walk by the Spirit. Don’t be boastful or challenge one-another or envy one-another.

v.1 - Freedom in Christ. Stand fast in liberty. Do not be re-yoked to the law or sin and death.

v.2-6 - if we add anything to the cross, Christ profits us nothing.  

v.7-12 - Legalism begins with right motives, but ends in disaster. 

v.16 - Sanctification is through the Spirit, not the Law.

Formerly he was useless to you –“Onesimus” was a common Greek name, especially among slaves, meaning “profitable” or “useful.” Paul took the meaning of Onesimus’ name to make an important point. Previously the “profitable” slave was useless; now he would be very useful. The gospel had changed his life.

He Carried Our Griefs & Bore Our Sins. By His stripes we are healed. of what? Sin and death Mt 8:14-17; 1 Pet 2:24; Heb 9:28; Rom 4:25; 1 Cor 15:3.

Not disease. He did not die to heal us of our illnesses.

Why did Jesus have to be crucified? Couldn't God have come up with a better way?

Jesus, very God, was arrested in the garden for saying He was God. All of the apostles fled, like sheep going astray.

Jesus' words from the cross reverberate even today. What great love is this?

What happened to the body in the tomb? Fact or fiction?

No Mingling! Grace is pure. Not-really grace is mingled with law. Grace is FROM God, FOR man.

Galatians 3:6-26 - Legalism and Grace cannot dwell in the same tent!
